The Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles meet Sunday in NFL action at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Chicago Bears could use a feel good victory here after losing five of their last seven games. The Chicago Bears have lost three of their last four road games. Mitchell Trubisky is completing 53.1 percent of his passes for 988 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Trubisky has one or less touchdown passes in every game this season. Kendall Wright and Tarik Cohen have combined for 589 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Zach Miller has 20 receptions. The Chicago Bears ground game is averaging 131.8 yards per contest, and Jordan Howard leads the way with 841 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Chicago is allowing 22.1 points and 319 yards per game. Christian Jones leads the Chicago Bears with 65 tackles, Akiem Hicks has seven sacks and Danny Trevathan has one interception.
The Philadelphia Eagles look for their ninth straight victory to inch closer to snagging the top seed in the NFC. The Philadelphia Eagles have won seven straight home games. Carson Wentz is completing 59.6 percent of his passes for 2,430 yards, 25 touchdowns and five interceptions. Wentz has two or more touchdown passes in six straight games. Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz have combined for 1,103 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while Nelson Agholor has 30 receptions. The Philadelphia Eagles ground game is averaging 144.6 yards per contest, and LeGarrette Blount leads the way with 561 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Philadelphia is allowing 18.8 points and 306.8 yards per game. The Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games, 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games in November and 7-2-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The underdog is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 meetings and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
I've been on the Philadelphia Eagles bandwagon the last couple of weeks, and we've made some nice money backing them in these recent blowouts. The problem is once bettors fall in love with these teams and they get all the love from the media and produce, you start seeing lines like this. The Eagles are starting to become the Golden State Warriors of the NFL, great team but sometimes getting way too many points. The Chicago Bears aren't a great football team and play better at home than on the road, but five of their seven losses have been decided by eight or less points. Chicago outplayed the Lions for three quarters last week, had its chances to beat Green Bay the week before and took the Saints down to the wire on the road. The Bears compete and cover numbers, the only thing we care about in this line of work. I'll take my two free touchdowns.
Randy’s PickChicago Bears +13.5
The NFL playoffs are upon us, and for the first time since 2010, the Chicago Bears are in the tournament. They’ll welcome the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles Sunday in the NFC wild-card game, one in which they’re expected to win.
The Bears are 6.5-point favorites and are the pick for more than 80 percent of experts polled.
But the Eagles shouldn’t be overlooked, especially not in the post-season. Philadelphia is a battle-tested and proven roster overflowing with Super Bowl experience and a quarterback — Nick Foles — who simply can’t be defeated when the games matter most.
Just ask Tom Brady.
Chicago Bears Vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Bears may have what it takes to knock off Foles and the Eagles, however. Philadelphia enjoyed the comfort of home-field advantage last season and was riding a wave of momentum into the playoffs. This season, the Eagles needed a win by Chicago in Week 17 to get into the tournament and will walk into a Bears den — literally — on Sunday at Soldier Field.
Chicago’s defense will do more than its part to set the Bears up for victory Sunday. They have an advantage on all three levels of the field. Their defensive line can win against Philadelphia’s overrated offensive line, the linebackers are more than capable of sticking with the Eagles’ running backs and tight ends, and the secondary, led by two All-Pros in Kyle Fuller and Eddie Jackson, should be able to shut down Alshon Jeffery and the rest of Philadelphia’s pass-catchers.
The game will ultimately come down to Mitch Trubisky and the offense, which despite the national perception of the second-year quarterback has done enough this season to prove he’s capable of leading the Bears to victory. Combine Trubisky’s evolution with the Eagles’ banged-up secondary, and all signs point toward Chicago having an effective day on offense.
What the Bears want to avoid is a game that’s so close it comes down to kicker Cody Parkey.
Parkey hasn’t been downright atrocious this season (he’s connected on 87 percent of his kicks), but he’s Chicago’s biggest weakness at this point in the year and he can’t be the deciding factor in a playoff game. He’s hit one too many uprights to make any Bears fan comfortable when he lines up to kick.
Eagles Game Predictions
That’s why it’s critical for the Bears to jump out to a two-score lead early in the game. Let the defense pin its ears back and get after Foles. The closer the game, the better the odds Phildalephia comes away with the upset win. Chicago has to play aggressively on offense from the first snap on.

And with Matt Nagy calling plays, that’s exactly what will happen.
The Bears’ magical 2018 season isn’t going to end Sunday. They’re going to knock off the defending champion and will travel to Los Angeles for the divisional round.
The reason why is simple: Chicago is a better team. Period. Barring any major injury or a flukey play or two, the Bears are moving on.
